Accident A1: Motorists are facing delays on the A1 Northbound near Colsterworth after a lorry carrying an insecure load prompted an emergency road closure. Emergency services and recovery teams are currently at the scene working to safely remove the vehicle and secure the load.
Authorities have confirmed that the northbound carriageway will remain closed from the Colsterworth junction while recovery operations take place. The recovery process is expected to take at least 45 minutes, although delays could continue beyond that period depending on conditions at the scene.
Drivers of cars and smaller vehicles are being diverted through Colsterworth Village and can rejoin the A1 at the next available junction. However, the diversion route is not suitable for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). HGV drivers are being redirected via Bourne from Stamford to avoid congestion and ensure safe passage.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and follow signed diversion routes. Incident 109 of today’s date refers.
